I felt a desire to object.
I invented a concept: Vladimir Bogomolov writes 'In August of 1944', this work becomes popular; influential people decide to create a quasi-double in order to 'appropriate' a new creative field, and Yulian Semyonov appears with his works about secret service figures.
But I have not found evidence for this concept.
I looked up the materials in the encyclopedia. It seems that both "In August ..." [the novel "In August of 1944" (The Moment of Truth, 1973)] and "Seventeen ..." [Seventeen Moments of Spring (1973)]were written almost simultaneously.
Consequently, there was no quasi-double... Both writers created independently... Each - on his own...
It is a pity that it was not possible to create a new idea regarding the literary process...
While I was thinking about my the "air" concept [concept, which was hanging in the air], and while I was reading materials in the encyclopedia, Olga Semyonova's book "Yulian Semyonov" was opened. The book was written by a daughter about her father, so it is not subject to criticism. In addition, this biography is well written.
I read this biography, some kind of irritation waves in me.
'Or maybe my irritation is just envy of a lucky person?'
All these endless relatives, acquaintances, dachas, foreign cars, trips, meetings, small and large people and a lyudishki [людишки, little people], projects, publications ...
From where, why is the irritation? After all, it's all so great!
'I want to present this as an attempt of person to inflate, to pump himself (herself), as hustle, fuss, as vanity ... But in fact, I am unconsciously jealous of a lucky person ...', - I inspire myself.
'Did I personaly watch on TV 'Seventeen ... '?
All those "White Suns" [White Sun of the Desert - film, 1970]. All those sassy people in big hats walking around the screen. All these Heroes commanding: "fire!" - in Novocherkassk. All these "Seventeen ..." (with songs by Tariverdiev) [ works by Tariverdiev have been recorded: 1972 'Seventeen Moments of Spring' (12 series) (film music)]. All these sluggish reconnaissance officers who looked at their wife for half an hour ... All this, in the end, is a matter of subjective perception.
And what is the plot of "Seventeen ..."? The Soviet intelligence officer Stierlitz prevented the conclusion of a separate peace between the Anglo-American allies and Nazi Germany ...
Wait a moment! I'm starting to remember. So after all, back on August 14, 1941, in the Atlantic Charter, Roosevelt and Churchill expressed their will in favor of the inadmissibility of a separate peace with Nazi Germany and in favor of victory through the unconditional surrender of Germany.
This declaration of will was enshrined in subsequent international documents and was supported by the USSR.
And why did they need appropriate guarantees in international documents?
Somewhere in the historical fog, on the historical periphery, a documented unconfirmed version roams - that approximately in the first half of 1942 (after an exhausting year of hostilities), a certain state sent Nazi Germany a proposal for a separate peace. But Hitler allegedly did not agree.
Is it true or not? I believe this is not true.
Individuals with a high level of skepticism can assume: did Roosevelt and Churchill foresee any such attempt (purely hypothetically - after all, there was an example of the Brest Peace [signed on March 3, 1918]).
In general, all this is speculation and hypotheses.
But the Atlantic Charter and subsequent international documents demanding the unconditional surrender of Nazi Germany are a fact.
And how then to relate to the efforts of the intelligence officer Stierlitz to prevent a separate peace between the Anglo-American allies and Nazi Germany? How then to treat the favorite film "Seventeen ..."? How then to treat to the (possibly) main work by Yulian Semyonov?
The literary heritage of Yulian Semyonov is enormous.
But personally, I'm not in the mood to read anything ... I read his biography - it's really interesting.
'Is it really necessary for me to continue to think for someone about the fact that after baths and mud you need to be warmly dressed? That western Crimea is cold Crimea? That Saky - it is not Koktebel."
But the story by Vladimir Bogomolov 'A people around' ["Кругом люди"] is sometimes remembered ... Yulian Semyonov would hardly have written such a story - I did not find any mention that Semenov traveled in second-class carriages.
And, most likely, all this is the subconscious envy of a person - who is not published, - from whom they are trying to take away real estate (without any compensation) in the ominous silence, - to a successful writer in all respects.
But the master of the detective genre still influenced me ...
Somewhere I came across a mention that Vladimir Bogomolov was beaten after writing the novel "In August ...". He was beaten up. And even brass knuckles were mentioned.
I looked at some materials, met a mention: 'In the mid-1970s, Bogomolov turned to the Yugoslav leader Broz Tito when Bogomolov suspected that the translation of his novel The Moment of Truth ["In August of 44".] into Serbo-Croatian deviates quite strongly from the original. Publication was stopped.
Then I looked into the biography of Broz Tito. 'More than fifty security officers guarded the President of Yugoslavia. Each of them was armed with two pistols - the Soviet "TT" and the German "Walter", as well as a special device "boxing". It looked like brass knuckles with sharp protrusions."
Acquaintance with the biography of the master of the detective genre will make anyone a supporter of detective versions in the style of "Top Secret" [media holding, newspaper 'Совершенно секретно']...
The author of the novel 'In August...' about SMERSH counterintelligence officers lived much more modestly and calmly than the creator of the romantic Stierlitz, the intelligence officer, who fought against the conclusion of a separate peace between the Anglo-American allies and Nazi Germany ...
"Seventeen ..." I was not the only one who were watching this movie. This film was viewed by tens of millions. And not just once. Thus ... my congratulations...
