Lenya Bobrov tries to interview the ex-president of Sri Lanka and becomes a high-level international Internet journalist. A story.

Lenya Bobrov learned that the ex-president of Sri Lanka settled in Singapore.

Lenya Bobrov has his own point of view on the events in Sri Lanka. Lenya believes that from some point on, a significant segment of the population of Sri Lanka lived, using (spending) a geopolitical rent. Sri Lanka occupies a favorable geopolitical position. Strong powers easily gave loans to such a state (with a convenient geographical position), and these loans were the basis for the prosperity of a fairly important layer of people.

Living on rent gives rise to certain habits - political, economic, managerial, personal habits.

These habits have changed the rulers of Sri Lanka. Ceylon was once a Crown Colony of Great Britain, had its own parliament, government (responsible to parliament), hard currency (silver Indian rupee), an almost deficit-free budget ... At that time, the island had a governor representing Great Britain. The governor probably had an unfavorable attitude towards a deficit budget ... The export of Ceylon tea to the UK provided guaranteed foreign exchange earnings. Apparently, this form of life had disadvantages ...

However, Lenya is not so naive as to offer his own opinion to the general public - about habits based on geopolitical rent and on loans received.

For the general public, the opinion of the ex-president of Sri Lanka is much more interesting.

Lenya writes three questions to the ex-president and sends them to the email address of a human rights organization operating in Singapore.

Such an organization will easily get in touch with a person who has received political asylum and pass on questions from Lenya to him.

As a polite person, the ex-president will answer something, and Lenya will publish this interview.

The letter with questions begins with a short story about himself ('Blogger from Taganrog (Rostov Oblast, Russia), who is writing about history, archeology, Scythian gold [I have an unique competencies] and modern problems. I recently spent three weeks in Sri Lanka - I am delighted with this country.') and ends with a request to send answers to questions to Leni's email address.

Lenya sent questions in two languages: in Russian and in English.

Approximately three hours after sending, replies came from an unknown e-mail address.

"1. What are the fundamentals of the policy, you were pursuing?

Until 1991, we emphasized socialist perspectives. After 1991, our policy was based on anti-colonialism, on the principle of sovereign development.

  2. What are the reasons for your resignation?

We managed to hold off the first blow thanks to concessional loans, which were targeted (in a dotted manner) to the most important sectors of the economy. Now the economy needs long money at preferential interest.

However, later circumstances suddenly developed in the most unfavorable way.

We were going to build new logistics chains to get new opportunities to enter the world markets, but the deadlines have compressed catastrophically, and we did not have time to take appropriate measures.

  3. What will you do in Singapore?

I will read historical books, play sports and write memoirs.'

  Lenya is happy.

After answering questions in the interview there are the words: "I wish success to the fellow countryman of the great writer Chekhov."

The letter is written in two languages: in Russian and in English.

Lenya suggested (conjectured), that his questions were passed on to one of the (Singaporean) students who had an internship in Russia. The student, out of courtesy and for language training, compiled answers. But this is only Lenya's personal assumption. The response letter has a signature and a name. Everything converges.

Lenya honestly made a note in his material: the interview was taken by e-mail, no confirmation (verification) of the authorship of the person who gave the answers was received from independent sources.

Lenya posts interviews on the Internet.

He feels that in real time he is becoming a high-level international Internet journalist.

Sri Lanka is a magical land. Legends associate it with the name of the first human - Adam (Adam's Bridge, Adam's Peak ...).

A light sea breeze seems to blow on Lenya, and a beautiful butterflies flutter nearby ...
