Dubrovsky, Kotovsky, Kandinsky. A literary note about the book: V. Baraev. "The Tree: the Decembrists and the Kandinsky family."

I could not find in electronic libraries (and to read) the book by Nina Kandinskaya (Andreevskaya) "Kandinsky and Me" ("Kandinsky und ich").

But some reviews of this book contain a large quotes from this book.

Nina Kandinskaya (Andreevskaya), wrote, for example: Our love was stronger than my mother's objections.

The inner force of this statement aroused my interest in books about Wassily Kandinsky and his origins.

Among such literary works is V. Baraev's book "The Tree: the Decembrists and the Kandinsky family". (This book was published in Russian.)

With difficulty, I found an electronic version of this book consisting of many chapter-pages.

  The book has an appendix:

  The Kandinsky family tree

  FIRST KNEE [LEVEL]

  1. Alexei Kandinsky (patronymic - ?)
The artist Wassily Kandinsky wrote that his father's ancestors were exiled to Siberia for political reasons. Maybe. Alexey or his parents lived on the banks of the Konda River in the Tobolsk province, from where their surname originates...

I compiled a single text (combining many pages-chapters) and started searching for a phrases related to Alexei Kandinsky.

I apologize in advance to the author of the book, V. Baraev, who spent a lot of energy and collected a great amount of information. But I can't keep silent. How much time has been spent by me for this search!

If Vladimir Lenin, when he was (in exile in Siberia) writing the book "The Development of Capitalism in Russia", was describing all the circumstances of his life, the details of sending books by mail, his personal impressions of the proletarians and bourgeois, about the population of the Siberian village where he lived, - then he, probably, would not have become the leader of a political party, but he would become another person, for example, a lawyer in distant territories of Siberia?

However, Nadezhda Krupskaya was next to him. So, after the publication of his book, Lenin began to claim ideological leadership in the Russial social democratic movement.

A tedious search through the book, written by V. Baraev, led me to a quote:

"Let me clarify that we are not talking about Chrysanthus, who lived in the Nerchinsk Factory, several hundred kilometers away, but about Alexei Petrovich Kandinsky, who lived in Biankin... 1779-1845. He does not look at all like his brother Chrysanthus, oriental features are also present in his appearance, but they are closer to Tungusian than to Buryat. "

But this is not the Alexei who was exiled to Siberia. He is the grandson of the exiled Alexei Kandinsky. The son of Alexei Kandinsky (Peter Alekseevich) in 1752 held the position of Yakut mayor [posadsky - one of the management positions of the middle level]. Consequently, the exile took place at the beginning (in the first quarter) of the 18th century. The period of the Great Northern War?

At that time, many violent events were taking place on the territory of the (former) The Grand Duchy of Lithuania.

I started searching for the surname "Kandinsky" through the search engine. Such a surname is found abroad, but very rarely.

Then I tried to find out: may be Vladimir Dahl (in his works) mentions something related to the word "Kanda".

  Here's what I found:

  Proverbs of the Russian people

  1) Don't go a kanda (cat) [кот, кошка] into penda (oven), kanda (porridge) in penda - it is for a guest (a Novgorod outdated very common joke).

  2) A courage drinks honey and breaks shackles [кандалы]. [happiness - luckness]

So, to V. Baraev's assumption about the origin of the surname "Kandinsky" from the name of the Konda river in Tobolsk province, we can add the version that the surname Kandinsky comes from the words mentioned by Vladimir Dahl.

I would like to note, too, that Vladimir Dahl helped me navigate the possible variants of the origin of the surname "Keldysh".
