At power stations electric power from the electric generators is transferred to transformative substations and further to electric power lines by armoured cables. Cable - Transformer can do work of those cables and substations, at that its cover from transformative steel does work of an armour and the cable wires do work of transformative windings.
Example 1 Three-phase dividing Cable - Transformer.
Fig. 1
where
1, 2, 3 are phases at the entrance of the transformer,
4, 5, 6 are phases at the output of the transformer and
7 is steel armour.
Section of such Cable - Transformer is shown on Fig. 2
Fig. 2
where
1 and 4 are wires of the winding,
7 is armour,
8 is isolation.
In suggested transformer the steel armour 7 does work as a magnetic conductor and protective cover. The transformer has relatively larger surface, what allows it to have effective cooling, which is reached not due to a special cooling system, but due to the originality construction of the Cable - Transformer.
Example 2. One-phase step up (step down) Cable - Transformer is shown on Fig. 3 and its section - on Fig. 4.
Figure 3
In reality a length of such Cable-transformer can be much more than it is shown on the draw..
