Summer's fading out so fast,
Like a gleam on a swinging pendulum;
Now the darkness covers us,
Evoking just the saddest gloom.
And the cold gets in my heart...
So the sun won't melt this rusty ice.
All the trees stand still and dark,
So motionless, gray as the skies.
Summer's fading out,
It leaves us with a sorrow
That everything ends here somehow...
All that we had was borrowed.
And the rain is all around,
It builds its walls of grieving water drops;
As if the heaven's falling down,
We're wrapped in the pitch-dark fog.
And the world's prepared to sleep;
It's waiting for the snow to come.
I've caught the last flying leaf,
I'll keep it 'till the next summer sun.
